Usability isn’t as hard as you think…

Jeff Atwood has an excellent post on his blog (which you should check out if you haven’t already) in which he talks about the benefits of having even a small number of users try out your product. He cites a graph from Jakob Nielsen which shows that you can derive tremendous benefit from just 5 users.
From Jakob’s post:
The most striking truth of the curve is that zero users give zero insights.
It’s all too easy to get caught up in your own vision of what your product is. It’s important to find out what other people think it is.
